This is an extremely simple circuit similar to the  Small Rechargeable Circuit featured in our Starter Electrical Kit.

This simple design is for lights only. During the daytime, the solar panel activates the blocker and turns off the power to the lights. When it is dark and the solar panel is no longer providing power, the battery will kick on and automatically turn on your lights.

This circuit can get a bit annoying however. It means your lights will come on late (after it's already hard to see) and will go off early as the sun starts to come up.  You can remedy this by putting a switch in between the panel and the first blocker. The switch needs to be in the ON position at all times for the system to continue automated. If it gets too dark to see before the battery kicks in, you can flip the switch OFF to start the battery sooner. Remember to toggle the switch back ON as night ends, or you'll drain the battery.
